So maybe it’s time to move on to cities starting with C! Copenhagen is on the schedule for this weekend..

The sun has been shining so long, the world of black tights and boots seem like a lifetime ago.. but sure enough fashion has other ideas and the new boots of the season have arrived.. the first 3 of my favourites are:
The Isabel Marant boot for this winter, she does an iconic one every year it seems, and this one looked so luxurious and snug with all the beautiful knits she did:
The the Saint Laurent.. not the one that went with the Nirvana era throwback season he did, the boots that go with all the sexy suiting:
and here is one of the multiple permutations of the unexpected but soon to be hit of the season, the ‘Over the Knee’ aka OTK.. by Miu Miu…
The new season is nearly upon us. Anyone on London knows that just this once, we don’t want it! We need more summer clothes cos it’s baaakking over here! I’m down to one pair of ‘posh’ sandals because i thought this would never happen.. but here it is, a proper summer.
Like it or not however, in fashion world the seasons are changing and slowly the trickle of autumn/winter ’14 is making it’s way into the shops. I was thinking recently about how some of my favourite things are old things. They don’t even have to be expensive or good quality.. but dressing out of season is way cooler, no? BUT here is some of my favourites from Zara’s new ‘inspired by’ season … question is.. should we wear it now, or a year from now?
And something to wear now, love the shorts. would wear them with the shirt above though.
Au revoir for now!
So the resort shows are on at the moment. .. have we noticed? maybe the big names haven’t showed yet so no mainstream press is on it.. no Chanel, Celine etc. maybe minimalism has made it all less newsworthy. Or maybe after relentless season after season of trend piled on trend piled on fashion show goer and vomited over overly-styled bloggers with arm parties and amazonian heels and plaids with prints with bling with paper bags and lunch bags and flamingo’s plus a kitchen sink all piled on top to please please please take my photo while I look like I don’t want my photo taken so I can then blog about how too many people are taking my photo we just want to get off now because it’s making me nauseous! I mean really it’s all so passe now no? a new item every day? and then wear them all at once?
Or is it just me?
Right now, all I want is a black pencil skirt to wear to the office. A plain black pencil skirt in a quality fabric. No frills. No zippers, bias cutting, cheeky splits up the side, funny lining, pinstripes, stretch tube skirts, mini skirts, midi skirts, pencil skirts in grey or navy. It’s great to have all these options. but all I want is a plain pencil skirt. Fingers crossed for the Fall collections eh?
Isabel Marant, Martin Grant, Vanessa Bruno and Dior have shown beautiful collections in Paris this weekend which have pre-empted Celine and Ms Philo herself with a sublime minimalistic offering
White and Black and Grey continues to be a trend, with splashes of Navy, and as shown at Vanessa Bruno amongst others.
Vanessa Bruno really delivered. The photos below are some of my favourite looks, but it was hard to narrow it down, she did a great sexy school girl slash grown up office woman without it being theme-ey. Love the suiting, so sophisticated.
Dior, showing it’s second season by Raf Simons, also showed permutations of this straight laced woman with an edge – mid-length hour glass shaped dresses and suiting, waistcoats. The Dior woman is a more serene version of the Dolce woman we met a few days ago. Is Carine R the inspiration for everyone at the moment?!?!?
Martin Grant showed the ultimate in simple elegance. These dresses made me want to be that woman and of course I want to go somewhere that calls for a dress as elegant as these.
And finally, what is fast becoming the juggernaut that is Isabel Marant. Get me a thigh master because these white tights are not going to be forgiving. Aside from that, Ms Marant seems to just want to be comfortable next Fall while still looking chic and glamourous. I want all the layers of knits and I want to drape myself in the coats and scarves and slouch into a smokey cafe with my french boyfriend and discuss art.
Maybe it’s the weather.. maybe it’s being cooped up at home without holiday plans.. maybe it’s me, but for the last few seasons all I have wanted to do is live in the tropical exotic beautiful world of Dolce & Gabbana.
Look at this:
It’s hot, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the air smells like the sea. Your family is around you and and your biggest issue is whether to have pizza or pasta for lunch and what outfit to wear to dinner. and best of all, you are well dressed. Total win in my book. I’m learning Italian, packing my bags and moving to Sicily. And I am taking along most of the Fall 2013 collection with me.. here are some of my favourites
For evening:
The beading is extraordinary on these, I wish I had seen them up closer, and the trend of carrying your bag on the hip continues. Flat shoes for evening on the left. Heaven!
The lace on these is a recurring theme at Dolce, with or without the showing undergarments, it’s innocent and sexy at the same time. The religious earrings and necklaces are amazing.
More lace for day below along with grey tweed in every permutation.
What is striking about the collection is how very wearable it all is while still providing drama. You could wear the day outfits to an office, to lunches to dinners, and likewise the evening wear could work in some day situations as well as in any bar club or restaurant in London. Bliss, a bit of drama and sun here in London.
