  • Dolce-land

Maybe it’s the weather.. maybe it’s being cooped up at home without holiday plans.. maybe it’s me, but for the last few seasons all I have wanted to do is live in the tropical exotic beautiful world of Dolce & Gabbana.

    Look at this:

It’s hot, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the air smells like the sea. Your family is around you and and your biggest issue is whether to have pizza or pasta for lunch and what outfit to wear to dinner. and best of all, you are well dressed. Total win in my book. I’m learning Italian, packing my bags and moving to Sicily.  And I am taking along most of the Fall 2013 collection with me.. here are some of my favourites

    For evening:

The beading is extraordinary on these, I wish I had seen them up closer, and the trend of carrying your bag on the hip continues. Flat shoes for evening on the left. Heaven!

The lace on these is a recurring theme at Dolce, with or without the showing undergarments, it’s innocent and sexy at the same time. The religious earrings and necklaces are amazing.

More lace for day below along with grey tweed in every permutation.

What is striking about the collection is how very wearable it all is while still providing drama. You could wear the day outfits to an office, to lunches to dinners, and likewise the evening wear could work in some day situations as well as in any bar club or restaurant in London. Bliss, a bit of drama and sun here in London.

  • New York Fashion Week II

So, here is a round up of some of my favourite looks from the snow filled fashion week that was New York… Aside from some great outfits below, in all my trawling of the Internet for show photos and street style photos, a couple of things sprang to mind…

    1. Are most of the shows in NYFW a little too small still to attract the names on the street (e.g. Giovanna Battaglia, ADR, CR, Miss Issa etc.) and that’s why they have been near impossible to find, OR

    2. do snow friendly outfits not really make great shots and hence the shortage of good street style shows…

I believe it is in fact a combo of the two, with point 2 re-affirming my frustrations with London winters and the length and depths of them… by month FIVE we all have coat and tights fatigue  and do I really have to buy another pair of cool but warm but practical boots that go with everything???

Secondly, we have seen magazines give way to blogs, give way to street style, to personal style, to tumblr, to glossy half yearly fashion books (ahem Ms Roitfeld)… what is next? … The variety of looks below show that full blown ‘trends’ are over.. When it comes to fashion, have we come full circle to needing to be told again? do we want to collaborate? Emulate?Any ideas?

Some of the best looks (and this is way before I trawl through Oscar De La Renta.. beautiful collection worthy of an entire other post..
